How to prove your work ethic on a CV
Replace adjectives with evidence a reader can check: hours of focused work, how often you finished what you planned, and how long you kept it up, shown with a source. A verified CV from Cutline does this automatically from your calendar and adds a code anyone can verify.
Why "hard-working" does not work
Recruiters read the same handful of words on most CVs: hard-working, motivated, driven, detail-oriented. Because everyone writes them and nobody can check them, they carry almost no information. What does carry information is a specific, checkable fact: what you did, how much, how consistently, and where the number comes from.
Evidence that shows work ethic
| Instead of | Show |
|---|---|
| Hard-working | 1,240 focused hours in 12 months, 25 a week on average |
| Reliable | 94% of planned blocks finished |
| Consistent | A 112-day streak of days with work done |
| Disciplined | 64 days where every planned block was done |
| Self-driven | Hours by discipline: building, selling, learning |
These are the kinds of numbers Cutline records from a calendar you plan and tick off. The examples above are made up; yours come from your own record.
Make the evidence checkable
A number is stronger when the reader can verify it. Every verified CV published from Cutline carries a document number and a QR code. Scanning it, or opening gocutline.com/verify with the code, shows the record exactly as it was issued and whether it is still the holder's current one. The CV says which parts Cutline computed and which parts you wrote yourself, so nobody is misled about either.
Keep the claims honest
- Time is self-recorded. Cutline counts blocks you planned and ticked off; it does not watch the work. Present it as a record of planning and follow-through, which is what it is.
- Revenue is different. Payments through Cutline or a connected Stripe account are confirmed by Stripe, so a revenue figure on a verified CV is backed by the payment processor.
- Declared is declared. Experience, education and skills are written by you, and the CV labels them that way.

Questions
Will employers trust a CV built from an app?
They can check it: the verification code shows the record as issued and which parts are computed. Present it as evidence of follow-through, next to your normal experience and references.
Can I edit the numbers?
No. Hours, streaks, cleared days and revenue are computed by Cutline when you publish. You can choose which sections to show.
