# The 15-minute weekly review

URL: https://gocutline.com/guides/weekly-review/

A weekly review is 15 minutes, once a week, where you compare what you planned with what you finished, look at where your hours went, and decide one thing to change next week. It is the step that makes planning get better over time.

## The review, in four questions
1. **What did I finish?** Count finished blocks and hours. In Cutline this is the week's finished hours by category.
2. **Where did the time go?** Which categories grew, which shrank? Is that what you wanted?
3. **What broke the plan?** A meeting, energy, a vague block? Find the pattern, not the excuse.
4. **What is one change for next week?** One. Move the gym earlier, add a buffer, cut a meeting.

## The numbers to look at
| Number | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Finished vs planned hours | How realistic your planning is |
| Cleared days | How often a day survives contact with reality |
| Deep work hours | Whether the important work got time |
| Unfinished blocks | Which kind of block you keep skipping |

## Then plan next week
Right after the review, plan the next week while the lessons are fresh. Follow the [20-minute weekly plan](https://gocutline.com/guides/how-to-plan-your-week/).

## Share it
Posting your week on the Floor (hours and blocks by category, never titles) is a simple way to make the review stick: someone will notice if the numbers drop.

## Questions

**When should I do a weekly review?**
Friday afternoon or Sunday. Same time every week.

**How long should a weekly review take?**
15 minutes is enough when your calendar already shows what you finished.
