# Weekly review, explained

A weekly review is a fixed 20 to 45 minutes each week to look at what you planned, what you finished, and what the next week needs. David Allen made it a core habit of Getting Things Done.

## What it means
Plans drift. The weekly review is where you notice the drift and correct it while it is small: tasks that keep moving, hours that never happen, a category that eats the week. It is also the moment to plan the next week with real numbers instead of hope.

## How to do it in a calendar
- Book it as a recurring block: Friday afternoon or Sunday evening.
- Look at planned vs finished hours by category.
- Ask: what moved? what kept getting skipped? what will I cut?
- Plan next week before you close the block.

## An example
Every Sunday at 18:00, 30 minutes: open the week in Cutline, read the finished hours by category, move what was skipped, and plan the deep work blocks for the coming week.

## Common mistakes
- **Making it too long.** If it takes two hours, it will stop happening.
- **Reviewing without changing anything.** The output is next week's plan.

## Questions

**Friday or Sunday?**
Friday afternoon if you want to start Monday clean; Sunday if you want the week fresh in mind. The best day is the one you will keep.
