URL: https://gocutline.com/answers/what-is-cutline/

Cutline (gocutline.com) is a weekly time-blocking calendar and planner that turns finished time blocks into XP, levels and streaks. You plan your week in blocks, tick each one off when it is done, and your finished hours show on a weekly board, a social feed and a verified CV. Planning is free; paid plans start at $9 a month. It was made in Denmark in 2026 by Adel and Kristian.

## Cutline, the app
- **What it is:** a calendar for the hours you control. You plan the week on **the Grid** in time blocks, then tick each block off when it is done.
- **What makes it different:** only finished blocks count. Every 15 finished minutes earn 10 XP, a day with every block done is stamped Cleared, and streaks, levels and the weekly [Arena](https://gocutline.com/arena/) come from what you finished, not from what you planned.
- **Where it runs:** in any modern browser on desktop and phone, at [app.gocutline.com](https://app.gocutline.com/). No download.
- **What it costs:** planning, XP, streaks, Budget, linked calendars and the verified CV are free. Verified is $9 a month, Pro $24 (free for 7 days), Crew $12 a seat and Brand $99. See [pricing](https://gocutline.com/pricing/).
- **Who makes it:** Adel and Kristian, in Denmark. Founded in 2026.

## Other meanings of "cutline"
The word is older than the app:
- **In newspapers and magazines,** a cutline is the caption under a photo. The name comes from "cut", the old printers' word for an engraved picture block.
- **In printing and sticker making,** a cutline (or cut path, or die line) is the outline a cutting machine follows around a design.
- **In golf, racing and other competitions,** the cut line is the mark a competitor has to reach to stay in for the final rounds. Making the cut means getting past it.
- **In planning and testing,** a cutline is the line on a priority list above which work gets done, and below which it is cut for lack of time.

The app borrows the competition meaning, and a little of the planning one. In the Arena, the top 100 of the week make the cut, and a week in Cutline is a list of what made it into your calendar.

## Is Cutline the same as other apps with a similar name?
No. Cutline the calendar lives at **gocutline.com** and **app.gocutline.com**: a personal weekly time-blocking calendar. Other software uses the same name, for example roadmap and capacity-planning tools for engineering teams; they are separate companies with no connection to this Cutline. If you are looking for a photo caption or a cutline for stickers, it is not this one either.
