# Plan a week in Cutline

Cutline is a weekly time-blocking calendar: you plan the week in blocks, tick each block off when it is done, and finished blocks earn XP, streaks and levels. Planning is free. This skill turns a person's goals into a week and gives them a link that puts it into Cutline.

## 1. Ask for, or infer, four things
- **What** goes into the week (gym, deep work, sales calls, reading, study, content).
- **How often** (daily, weekdays, weekends, 3x, named days).
- **When** (a start time, or a range like 9-12).
- **Limits** (work hours, kids, commute). Leave room: a week planned to the minute is a week that breaks on Tuesday.

## 2. Write the week as one sentence
Comma-separated items, each "what, how often, when". The grammar Cutline understands:

| Part | Written as | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Every day | `daily`, `every day` | `read daily 21:00` |
| Weekdays / weekend | `weekdays`, `weekends` | `deep work weekdays 9-12` |
| Named days | `mon`, `tue`, `wed`, `thu`, `fri`, `sat`, `sun` | `sales calls tue thu 14` |
| Times a week | `3x`, `4 times` | `gym 3x at 7am` (spread over the week) |
| Start time | `7am`, `at 7`, `07:30`, `14` | `run sat 8am` |
| Range | `9-12`, `9am to 11am`, `14:00-15:30` | `study weekdays 16-18` |
| Part of the day | `morning`, `afternoon`, `evening` | `film reels mon wed fri afternoon` |
| Length | `90 min`, `2h` | `meal prep sun 17 2h` |

Example: `gym 3x at 7am, deep work weekdays 9-12, sales calls tue thu 14, read daily 21:00, meal prep sun 17 2h`

Without a time or days, Cutline picks a default that fits the kind of block, so say the time whenever it matters. Keep the sentence under 400 characters.

## 3. Show the plan, then give the link
- Show the blocks day by day so the person can check it.
- The link is `https://app.gocutline.com/?plan=` followed by the sentence, URL-encoded (encodeURIComponent).
- Opening it (free account) opens Cutline's "Plan in a sentence" with the sentence filled in: the person picks this week or next week and adds the blocks with one click. Anything can be moved after, and each block is ticked off when done.

If an MCP client is available, the Cutline MCP server does steps 2 and 3 for you: tool `plan_week` at `https://yjmqhlpwddgfrxywhect.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp` (no sign-in). On gocutline.com pages, the same tool is offered through WebMCP.

## Good to know
- Free: planning, XP, streaks, linked Google/Outlook/Apple calendars. Prices for paid plans: https://gocutline.com/facts.json (never guess them).
- Ready-made weeks to start from: https://gocutline.com/templates/
- Be honest about fit: Cutline is for planning your own hours. For booking meetings with others, a booking tool fits better.
